Teachers - educational materials on the platform

The digital service for university Skyes is a software product, a cloud platform containing online courses for learning English.

Skyes educational materials are presented in two main content sections: Educational courses and Extra courses.

The Educational courses section contains materials for teaching English with the focus of the following 4 purposes: General English, Business English, English for specific purposes (ESP) and English for exam preparation.

The Extra courses section contains various trainers aimed at developing such language skills as grammar, vocabulary, phonetics and listening comprehension. Besides, you can find a couple of soft skills trainers.

Educational courses

The Educational Courses section consists of the following educational materials according to the teaching purpose:

General English

  • The online course Connected Speech for studying phonetic phenomena and practising articulation. The course is designed for 30 academic hours and intended for students of all levels.
  • The online course Extra practice includes extra General English materials and is intended for A0 (32 academic hours), B1 (46 academic hours), B2 (38 academic hours) and C1 (32 academic hours) students.
  • The online course Good Vibes for learning General English. The course consists of two levels: B1 (32 units, the full course is designed for 128 academic hours) and B2 (32 units, the full course is designed for 128 academic hours).
  • The online course Academic writing for getting acquainted with the key features of academic writing in the English language. The course is designed for 52 academic hours and intended for students of B1-B2 levels.

Business English

  • The online course SkyCareer B1-B2 for learning Business English. The course is designed for 120 academic hours.
  • The online course Business Writing for getting acquainted with the key features of business correspondence. The course is designed for 10 academic hours for levels A2-B1.
  • The online course Job interview for getting acquainted with the key features of job interview preparation. The course is designed for 11 academic hours for levels A2-B1.
  • The online course Presentation skills and pitching a project for getting acquainted with the key features of presentation skills and pitching a project or startup. The course is designed for 18 academic hours for levels B1-B2.

English for specific purposes (ESP)

  • The online course English for Information Technology is an English course for IT majors. The course consists of two levels: B1 (designed for 36 academic hours) and B2 (designed for 30 academic hours).
  • The online course English for Marketing for studying ESP for students majoring in Marketing. The course consists of two levels: B1 (designed for 32,5 academic hours) and B2 (designed for 19,5 academic hours).
  • The online course English for Management for studying ESP for students majoring in Management. The course consists of two levels: B1 (designed for 32,5 academic hours) and B2 (designed for 19,5 academic hours).
  • The online course English for Finance for studying ESP for students majoring in Finance. The course is designed for 19,5 academic hours for level B1.
  • The online course English for Pharmaceuticals for studying ESP for students majoring in Pharmaceuticals. The course is designed for 22 academic hours for levels A2-B1.

English for exam preparation

  • The online course Ace the PET exam includes practice tests helping А2-В1 students to prepare for the international PET exam. The course is designed for 74 academic hours (110 practice tests).
  • The online course Ace the FCE exam includes practice tests helping B1-B2 students to prepare for the international FCE exam. The course is designed for 110 academic hours (165 practice tests).
  • The online course Ace the TOEFL ITP exam for studying techniques and the exam format of the TOEFL ITP exam (Level 1). The course is designed for 40,5 academic hours for B1-B2 levels.
Extra courses

The Extra courses section contains the following extra materials according to the language and soft skills trained:

Vocabulary

  • Vocabulary Trainers, a series of interactive vocabulary trainers for students of all levels. The series is designed for 19 academic hours.
  • Interjections, a series of 4 interactive trainers on the subject of interjections for students of all levels. The series is designed for 8 academic hours.
  • Lego Vocabulary is a series of self-study mini-lessons (“blocks”) on vocabulary for A2 students (Lego, 24 lessons). The series is designed for 24 academic hours.

Grammar

  • Lego Grammar, a series of mini-lessons (“blocks”) on English grammar for A2-B1 students (Lego, 14 units, 48 lessons). The series is designed for 48 academic hours.
  • Lego Mixed Tenses, a series of mini-lessons (“blocks”) on grammar for A1-B2 students (Lego, 8 lessons). The series is designed for 16 academic hours.
  • Grammar Trainer A0-A1, a series of mini-lessons (12 units, 37 trainers) for А0 and А1 students. The series is designed for 37 academic hours for each level.
  • Grammar Trainer B1-B2, a series of mini-lessons (44 trainers) for B1 and B2 students. The series is designed for 44 academic hours for each level.

Phonetics

  • Lego Phonetics is a series of mini-lessons (“blocks”) on phonetics for A1 students  (Lego, 16 lessons). The series is designed for 16 academic hours.

Listening comprehension

  • Video Practice, a series of thematic videos accompanied by listening practice exercises for A1-C1 students (432 videos). The series is designed for 143 academic hours.

Soft and business skills

  • Choose your own business adventure, a series of 7 Business English trainers for A2-B2 students.  The series is designed for 14 academic hours.
  • Internships, a mini-course consisting of 8 lessons for A2-B1 students on the subject of doing an internship abroad. The course is designed for 8 academic hours.

The Extra Courses section is intended to complement the main course. The teacher can choose these tasks based on the level and needs of their group to increase the hours of language practice.
